What Makes a Good MLM?
Perhaps you are investigating MLM for the first time, rather new to this industry or have been unsuccessful in the past.
Have you worked a program that did not turn out to be a good looking, level stool that you can sit on without getting poked in the rear?
Let me suggest taking a look at what is happening and how you can fix it. Following is an article written by Debi Hambo that I thought was illuminating. Perhaps, you will too.
You might look at an MLM opportunity as a stool with 3 legs.
Picture this…
The first leg is always the COMPANY. Without a company that is designed for the LONG TERM, you will not have a distributorship business. The FOUNDER(S) have to be based on honesty, integrity and focused long-term. The MANAGEMENT team has to have the experience and background to guide the company in the right direction and make the best choices.
The second leg is the PRODUCTS. They have to be CONSUMABLE - reordered every month providing the framework of your residual income. They have to be in high DEMAND and of excellent VALUE. They have to be UNIQUE from the competition to set them apart.
The third leg is the COMPENSATION PROGRAM. It must be FAIR to the part-time distributor. If they can’t make money - then why promote it. It has to also be fair for the serious part-time business builder. And it has to be rewarding for the full-timer. If it can’t attract and keep LEADERS then it won’t work.
Those are the 3 key legs to ANY successful MLM business. However, the point that most people don’t know, or do not realize, is that without a seat to your stool 2 things will happen.
1. The stool (business) will fall apart because nothing is holding the legs together.
2. You will keep getting poked in the rear when you try and sit on your stool (build your business). No matter how great that leg is (compensation plan, products or company), they will still poke you in the rear, every time, when you try and sit on the stool without a seat.
So, what is the seat that nobody talks about?
It is the duplicable recruiting, sponsoring, training, coaching, retailing, event management and retention SYSTEM.
So, without that system, the whole thing will come falling down. This business is all about duplication and creating better LEADERS. Because it is the LEADERS who can create better networkers and other leaders. Just remember this saying and 2 step process…
“Products don’t move people, PEOPLE move products and LEADERS move people.”
STEP 1) Commit to the process of becoming a leader.
STEP 2) Commit to the process of building leaders.
Check out the 3 legs (compensation plan, company, products) AND the seat (sponsor and training/business building system) of your business to give you the best chance to “escape the rat race”.
If the “seat” to your “stool” is missing, look upline to find a system that addresses the above and follow it for ONE YEAR straight. DO NOT deviate or be influenced by outside forces, no matter how good a “new system” sounds. Changing systems is like landing on that bigggg slide in “Shoots ‘n Ladders”. You have to start all over at the beginning and you lose everything you worked to build.
